Hey there strangers 🙂
I’ve been away for quite a while, muddling through the beginning of my second year of teaching high school . . . And I’m itching to start a new story. More so, I’m itching to tell you all about it!
“Connected” has been back-burnered for the time being, since my plot refuses to wrap up in a way that I’m satisfied with, of course. So, in the meantime, I’m delving into a topic that has always fascinated me, and of course, true to my nature, is appropriately controversial.
Stockholm syndrome, in a nutshell, is when a kidnapping victim develops an affection for their captor or captors. There have been cases of it recently and as far back as the mid 1900’s. It was discovered and named after a group of bank robbery hostages in Sweden reported feeling a connection to the men that had held them captive for over 131 hours.
So my question to myself; the question that I’m going to attempt to thrash out in my next project, is: What if a kidnapping victim went so far as to fall in love with one of her captors? What might that look and feel like to someone who’s grown up in captivity, so to speak? And what tragedy might befall this poor, unfortunate soul upon being rescued?
As always, I anticipate much heartache, bloodshed, and of course, rounds and rounds of harrowing edits 🙂
Stay morbid, friends ❤
